The moon is normally a distraction when capturing lightning images - occasionally however it adds to the scene.

The ocean near here by early Autumn starts to be an aid to storms rather than the deterent it is in summer. The warm sea surface adds warmth and moisture,  the first of the coming cooler seasons colder mid layer air is all that is needed...............

.............in summer the ocean surface is many degrees cooler than the land, thus creating a inversion - a no go zone for convection, unless there is a sharp upper trough.
