AUTUMN 2000

27 -29th May 2000 - Polar outbreak, strong winds and cold temperatures. A far as a week before this event nearly every weather model was forecasting a truly cold outbreak. For once the models held their forecasts and even intensified the cold. For the Illawarra the main product of the event was strong to gale force west to north west winds. Rainfall was confined to brief showers. Snow was recorded at Bowral and fell briefly at Moss Vale. Temperatures broke no records in the Illawarra thanks to the sunshine, however they were still very much below average.
